Self-driving Cars could Revolutionize Transportation for People with Disabilities.

A new grant with VEMI researchers Dr. Nicholas Giudice (PI) and Dr. Richard Corey, collaborating with Dr. Shelley Lin from Northeastern looks at ways to combine AI techniques with  autonomous vehicle technology to make this transportation of the future safer and more accessible for older adults and visually impaired people. This UMaine/Northeastern seed grant was one of five selected for funding  to stimulate new interdisciplinary, cross-institutional collaborations. A news piece about the project can be found at:
