Computer Science BS ABET Accreditation Renewed
The Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET, www.abet.org) has recently extended the accreditation of the UMaine BS in Computer Science under
the Computer Science Program Criteria. This decision was the culmination of an intensive review process involving annual data gathering, evaluation of data, a thorough self-study process and document, a
three-day visit by an ABET evaluation team, and a review of the findings by the entire CAC. ABET is a non-profit organization that is the premier accrediting body for computing, engineering, and applied science programs. ABET accreditation of a program is a mark of confidence in the program’s standards for curriculum and continuous improvement.
