SCIS welcomes 4 new professors, including new director, Penny Rheingans

With the beginning of the Fall 2018 semester, the School of Computing and Information Science is pleased to announce that we have welcomed 4 new colleagues to our faculty.

Penny Rheingans

Dr. Penny Rheingans joins us from the  University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and assumes the role of Director of the School of Computing and Information Science. She received her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and her research interests are in data visualization, computing education, and diversity in technology.

 

 

 

 

 

Sepideh Ghanavati

Dr. Sepideh Ghanavati is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science program. She received her Ph.D. in computer science, University of Ottawa, and her research area is in software engineering, privacy, and security.

 

 

 

 

 

Manuel Woersdoerfer

Dr. Manuel Woersdoerfer is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing and Information Science and Collaborating Assistant Professor of Business in the Maine Business School.  He received his Ph.D. in business ethics from the Goethe University Frankfurt. His research interests are in business ethics, computer ethics, and climate ethics.

 

 

 

 

 

Terry Yoo

Dr. Terry Yoo is Associate Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing and Information Science. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and most recently was a Project Lead at NIH.
