VEMI Lab Technology Allows Researchers to Observe the Effects of Aging First-Hand, Bangor Daily News Reports
The Virtual Environments and Multimodal Interaction (VEMI) Laboratory and the Advanced Manufacturing Center opened their doors to Maine Health Access Foundation members for a tour on Thursday, October 30th. The topic of the tour was the Successful Aging Initiative for Living, the University of Maine’s cross-disciplinary effort involving research and development seeking to “hinder the effects of an aging population, both on the individuals themselves and the communities they belong to.” The initiative involves virtual and augmented reality technology from the School of Computing and Information Science’s VEMI Lab, as well as research and development at the engineering department’s Advanced Manufacturing Center.
