The New England Rural Education Hub, housed in the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development, represents a partnership between the Rural Schools Collaborative and UMaine to advance high-quality preparation for rural teachers and school leaders to teach in and lead thriving rural communities.

The goals of the New England Rural Education Hub are to

  • Advance UMaine’s efforts to develop rurally responsive education workforce development programs for teachers and school leaders in Maine and Greater New England
  • Coordinate disciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaboration to initiate new rural-focused education research at UMaine and within the Greater New England region
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for translating rural education research into actionable practice for educators across New England
  • Recognize and promote rural community and school innovation to support student learning across Maine and the Greater New England region in partnership with school districts

Hub Affiliate Faculty, drawn from all around New England, seek to serve the needs of our rural region through their research, teaching and service.
