Abstract:

This report presents findings from a research study conducted the Maine Education Policy Research Institute (MEPRI) at the request of the Maine State Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. This study featured a statewide survey of Maine school principals to explore their perceptions about the performance, retention and support needs for emergency-certified teachers. These findings contribute to the on-going research conducted by MEPRI in recent years focusing on educator workforce challenges and needs in Maine.
