Attendees: David Bagley, Dusty Dowse, Marian Dressler, Richard Judd, Sarah McPartland-Good, Michael Pullen, Thomas Sanford, Phyllis Thibodeau, Gloria Vollmers, Kimberly Whitehead
Absent: Nancy Boyington and Sue Randall

Dusty Dowse called the meetng to order at 8:15 a.m.

Approval of January 3rd minutes (February meetng canceled due to storm that closed the University)

The Board welcomed David Bagley a newly appointed member.

Committee Reports:

Newsletter: Sarah presented an update on the yearly Silver Tracks newsletter. Her office has graciously offered to assist us in getting the newsletter published and mailed to all retirees by the first part of April. The Council has been submitting items to be put in this edition.

Membership List Update: Kate Lattari, Manager of Research and Data at the UMaine Foundation was able to provide a contact list of retirees. Sue will set up a meeting with Chris Lindstrom in Human Resources to go over both the Foundation and HR lists.

Website: Thomas has been updating the PCRE website. He will send an e-mail to the members that he needs a photo/information from. Please visit the website to verify the information that has been currently edited/added.

Oral History Project: Marian provided an update of the Project. On Saturday, February 29th four interviews were conducted by the All Maine Women. The four interviewees were Dr. Robert Strong, School of Business (the Spiffy founder); Ms. Mazie Hough, former Associate Director, Women in Curriculum; Dr. Alfred Leick, Professor of Spatial Informatics; and Ms. Barbara Ouellette, former alumnae of Honors College and was on the Honors College Board of Advocates. The compilation of these video interviews will be shown at the Retiree Homecoming Event.

Hikel Award Update: Gloria reported three new nominations have been received thus far. The Hikel Committee (Gloria, Mike and Thomas) will meet in the middle of March and will bring their recommendations to the full Council at the April meeting.

Brownie Retiree Scholarship Award: Marian announced that Emma Turlo, great grandchild of deceased Jonathan Biscoe who worked in the Physics Department for 27 years, was this year’s recipient of the scholarship. The scholarship is now endowed. It was agreed by the Board that Emma will get an invitation to attend the retiree reunion.

Homecoming (June 2nd): Phyllis gave an update. Vendors have been contacted for the event.
She is soliciting ideas for the keynote speaker as well as looking for suggestions for tours for the afternoon sessions. Please email her at phyllist@maine.edu with your recommendations.
