While in session, our delegates had the opportunity to observe and participate in parliamentary procedure, which is formally used in the United Nations sessions. In addition to learning the procedural aspects of the United Nations, delegates were able to actively participate by speaking during debate sessions, and casting their vote on motions, and draft resolutions. The constructing of resolutions provided our delegates with the unique opportunity to collaborate with other students from around the world, while working to resolve contemporary issues concerning a wide variety of topics, such as international law, universal human rights, and fiscal policy responsibility. Our group worked on many draft resolutions and passed 34 resolutions that were sponsored by our delegation over the weekend. Also, one of our delegates was awarded honorable mention for best delegate in his committee.
 

Outside of session, the International Affairs Association had the opportunity to explore the historic city of Montreal. For any students that had not experienced a bilingual city, the combination of French and Canadian culture was educational and unforgettable. Group dinners allowed us to bond as a club while sampling some of the best restaurants Montreal has to offer. Ultimately, participating in McMUN was a highly educational experience. This trip allowed our group the opportunity to embrace a foreign culture, learn valuable information concerning the function and role of the united nations, and make memories that are sure to last the remainder of our time here at the University of Maine.
