Internship Opportunity: Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee
Organization: Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee
Location: Augusta (partial telecommute available)
Hours Per Week: 15-20+
Are you looking to work in Maine politics? The Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee – the only statewide organization whose sole purpose is to elect Democrats to the state senate – is looking for sharp, young minds for our summer internship program. Our best and brightest recruits often come up through our internship program. Previous and current interns are the first people we contact when job opportunities become available.
This is not a “fetch the coffee” or “watch and take notes” type of internship. Our team of interns will gain real, hands-on experience building and operating a statewide campaign organization. Interns can expect to learn the basics of how political campaigns are run and specific skills like:
- Candidate Recruitment
- Fundraising
- Event Planning
- Media and Communications
- Targeting
- Voter Contact and Identification
- Research
- Volunteer Recruitment and Training
Requirements:
- Enrolled (or fall enrollment) in college courses for credit
- Computer literate in internet research, Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to electing Democratic candidates
Previous work or volunteer experience on a Democratic campaign is preferred, but not required. Internships with the Maine SDCC are for credit only. Travel and expense reimbursements may be available. Interns will be expected to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week on assigned projects during June, July and August. Flexible scheduling arrangements are available.
