Report Index

An inventory of reports produced by the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment by category can be found below.

These reports provide admissions data (i.e., the number of applications, completed applications, students accepted, and students enrolled) for new undergraduate and graduate students. Additional reports include results from the New Student Survey and NonYield reports, which display where UMaine’s admitted-but-non-matriculating students go.

The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort between publishers and the higher education community to collect and report a core set of data in a clear and consistent way. The Common Data Set includes information in the following categories: general information about the institution; data on enrollment, persistence, and graduation categorized by gender, ethnicity, and financial aid status; application and selection policy; freshmen academic profile; transfer student data; student life features; annual student expenses and financial aid; instructional faculty and class sizes; disciplinary areas and degrees conferred.

These reports provide a summary of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias.

The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a survey tool managed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) that collects information from postsecondary institutions that are eligible for Title IV funding. Among many other functionalities, IPEDS generates a yearly Data Feedback Report that examines an individual institution’s data from the past year and compares it to data from a specified peer group of other institutions across the country that possess similar qualities and metrics. Overall, the report is a useful benchmarking tool for postsecondary institutions.

The data feedback report contains information on a number of topics, including student enrollment, retention and graduation rates, student financial aid, and more. Each topic section contains figures that display UMaine’s information and the corresponding statistics of the comparison group side-by-side.
