Former English professor Marie Urbanski Whittaker passes away

Marie Olesen Urbanski Whittaker, a former University of Maine professor, feminist and liberal activist, passed away Oct. 24. She was 94. UMaine PD participating in No-Shave November for cancer awareness

Throughout November, members of the University of Maine Police Department are participating in No-Shave November, a campaign to raise awareness about cancer. As part of No-Shave November, participants forego shaving for 30 days and donate their monthly hair-maintenance expenses to support cancer prevention, research and education, according to the nonprofit’s website.
