Spudman interviewed Mario Murad Leite Andrade, University of Maine assistant professor of potato breeding and genetics, on the potato breeding program at UMaine and drought tolerance. Andrade said students in the program conduct trials without irrigation to select cultivars naturally more resistant to water stress.
