Knight discusses increased demand for local turkeys with News Center

Colt Knight discussed a growing trend of consumers purchasing turkeys directly from Maine farms with News Center Maine. “I’m happy to see folks buying locally this year,” said Knight, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension assistant professor and state livestock specialist. “I think that’s positive for the Maine farming economy.”

Bolton discusses whether to soak dirty dishes with Washington Post

The Washington Post interviewed Jason Bolton, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension food safety specialist, about whether to soak dirty dishes before washing them so they would be easier to clean. One recommendation Bolton shared was not to soak wooden materials because they can become damaged or a “breeding ground for bacteria.”
