Culturefest returns Nov. 8

The University of Maine Office of International Programs and International Student Association will host its annual celebration of cultures from 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the New Balance Student Recreation Center.  

The 38th Culturefest will feature international foods, cultural exhibits, activities and a style show. The family-friendly event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity for the university’s international community to showcase their talents and traditions.

Over 150 students and scholars representing around 30 countries are participating in the event, with an expected attendance of around 1,800 people. A number of campus groups and community organizations will also participate, including the Bangor Chinese School, the Franco-American Resource Opportunity Group, the Maine MultiCultural Center and the Muslim Student Association. 

College of Education and Human Development students from Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education ,and members of the UMaine chapter of Student Maine Education Association will be hosting an area focused on kids’ games and activities.
