New York Times speaks with Socolow on media consolidation

University of Maine communications and journalism professor, Michael Socolow, spoke with the New York Times about the American tech company Oracle and their growing enterprise. Co-founded by Larry Ellison, Oracle now owns shares in TikTok, and has executed a recent $8 billion deal to secure CBS News and CNN. “Everything is consolidating,” said Socolow. “What makes these deals different is that they are across multiple platforms. To have the opportunity to establish an editorial line across TikTok, CBS News and CNN — that’s a new world.”
