UMaine hosting weeklong Job Jam Sept. 23-26

Students can learn about job and internship opportunities, as well as future career pathways, during Job Jam: Career Exploration Week, a series of networking and informational events held from Sept. 23-26 at the University of Maine. 

The week kicks off with The Internship Showcase from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the North Pod of the Memorial Union. Students will share their summer internship experiences with peers who are earlier in their academic careers. 

Other highlights include: 

  • CareerFest from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, on the Mall. Students can network with employers and learn about potential pathways to employment in a wide variety of industries. The event will also include games, food trucks and free snacks. 
  • Sector-Specific events throughout the day on Thursday, Sept. 25. Students have the opportunity to meet with University Forest Managers and visit the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), Innovative Media Research and Commercialization(IMRC) Center, the Maine College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC), BioHome3D at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC). Sign-up for tours through campus groups or at CareerFest.
  • Off-campus visits to local employers on Friday, Sept. 26. Transportation is provided. Signups are available during CareerFest and through various campus groups. 

On Thursday, students and job seekers from the general public can connect with Veteran-friendly employers during the Hire-a-Vet Fair from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Mall.
