UMaine and UMS to host inaugural Pathways to Careers Summit

The University of Maine and the University of Maine System (UMS) will host the inaugural Pathways to Careers Summit: Internships Beyond the Classroom on April 16 at Tyler Technologies in Yarmouth, Maine.

The event will highlight best practices in starting and growing high-impact internship programs, bringing together both UMS personnel and industry speakers to highlight their learnings and best practices.

Hosted by UMaine’s Office of Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Resources, and Engagement (SPIRE) and UMS TRANSFORMS Pathways to Careers, the event will feature a nationally-known keynote speaker, eight sessions with UMS speakers and industry speakers, and panel discussions. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about high-impact internship programs and how experiences are shaped and network with colleagues from across the business landscape in Maine, aiming to strengthen the overall internship landscape in the state to support students.

Pathways to Careers coordinates System-wide collaboration among internship coordinators, career professionals and other UMS employees who support access to and quality of internship experiences. Pathways to Careers is funded with generous support from the Harold Alfond Foundation as part of UMS TRANSFORMS and from the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan (External Site) provided by Gov. Janet Mills and the Maine Legislature to the System for workforce development. For more information and to register, please visit the Pathways to Careers Summit event page.
