Thirty-eight faculty members receive tenure and/or promotion
The University of Maine has announced that 38 faculty members have received tenure and/or promotion or just-cause protection status and promotion effective Sept. 1. The annual announcement recognizes outstanding achievement in scholarship and research, teaching and community engagement.
Tenure for 24 of the faculty members was approved by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees on March 10.
“These 38 faculty have earned tenure or promotion on the basis of their teaching, scholarship and service to the UMaine community,” said John Volin, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. “Their nationally-recognized excellence advances our land-grant, learner-centered R1 mission. Their achievements enhance our already strong reputation in multiple domains of discovery, research and creative activity, from the humanities to engineering. I note with admiration that this particular cohort of faculty endured and then navigated pandemic-related disruptions and hardship, which makes their accomplishments extraordinarily impressive.”
