UMaine’s International Dance Festival returns to the Collins Center Feb. 22
The University of Maine will host its annual International Dance Festival on Feb. 22 at the Collins Center for the Arts.
The show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. with doors opening an hour before the shows. They are free and open to the public.
This dance festival showcases traditional music, costumes and dances from different cultures. After celebrating the 20th anniversary of the dance festival in 2024 with an extended show, this year’s program will keep in routine with previous years and offer a shorter showtime. Fourteen groups will represent 12 different countries that span five of the seven continents, including a group performing K-pop music and a combo dance that incorporates traditional, yet modern moves from Zambia and Ghana.
The Huddled Masses, Maine’s only Serbian brass band, will also perform from 1-2 p.m. as people arrive for the first showtime.
