Maine Business School earns global recognition through AACSB re-accreditation

The Maine Business School (MBS) at the University of Maine has again earned re-accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a prestigious distinction held by only 6% of business schools worldwide.

The accreditation process, which occurs every five years, affirms MBS’s commitment to providing high-quality business education that meets the highest global standards. The school has maintained AACSB accreditation since 1974, underscoring its long-standing dedication to academic excellence, impactful research and student success.

“AACSB accreditation is the gold standard for business education, signifying our commitment to engagement, innovation and impact,” said Jason Harkins, executive dean of the Maine Business School.

To earn AACSB accreditation, institutions must meet rigorous criteria in faculty qualifications, curriculum relevance, research impact and student outcomes. For MBS, this re-accreditation reinforces its mission to develop future business leaders who are ready to drive economic growth in Maine and beyond.

“Our faculty, staff, students, and alumni play a critical role in making the Maine Business School a leader in business education,” Harkins added. “This achievement is a testament to our collective efforts and our unwavering commitment to providing a world-class business education right here in Maine.”
