BDN highlights 1960s potato research from UMaine, federal partnership

The Bangor Daily News highlighted research that was conducted as part of a partnership between the University of Maine and U.S. Department of Agriculture in the early 1960s to breed abnaki potatoes. These potatoes are rare to find today, except in traces of popular breed varieties that have descended from them, but were described as high yielding and resistant to the fungal disease verticillium wilt and the leaf roll virus.
