Robert Talbot Civil Rights Speaker Series returns Nov. 14
The University of Maine Alumni Association and Greater Bangor Area Branch of the NAACP will host the fourth annual Robert Talbot Civil Rights Speaker Series at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Buchanan Alumni House.
Keynote speaker Shontay Delalue ’00, ’03G, inaugural senior vice president and senior diversity officer at Dartmouth College, will deliver a talk titled “DEI as a Present and Future Imperative.” Shontay is also a member of UMaine’s Board of Visitors. This event is free, but pre-registration is encouraged and can be done online.
Established in 2021 by the UMaine Alumni Association and Greater Bangor Area Branch NAACP, the Robert Talbot Civil Rights Speaker Series, named in honor of a UMaine alumnus and the first executive director of the Maine Human Rights Commission, promotes dialogue and engagement to advance equality and justice. This year’s event is sponsored by University Credit Union, Eaton Peabody, the University of Maine Foundation, and Bodwell.
