Culturefest returns Nov. 2
The University of Maine Office of International Programs and International Student Association will host its annual celebration of cultures from 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 in the New Balance Student Recreation Center.
The 37th Culturefest will feature international foods, cultural exhibits, children’s activities and a style show. The family-friendly event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity for the university’s international community to showcase their talents and traditions.
New this year is a brass band that will play Serbian folk tunes live intermittently from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Over 500 students and scholars representing at least 30 countries are participating in the event, with an expected attendance of around 1,500 people. A number of campus groups and community organizations will also participate, including the AFS-USA Exchange Program, Peace Corps and Maine MultiCultural Center.
