WFVX talks with Dill on how heat waves affect tick populations
WFVX (Fox 22/ABC 7 in Bangor) talked to Griffin Dill, an integrated pest management specialist and director of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Tick Lab, on how the recent heat wave could have affected tick populations in Maine. Dill said ticks have shown resilience to extreme temperature fluctuations and are unlikely to be impacted by high temperatures. In the long term, however, Dill said extended hot and dry conditions could cause populations to decrease.
