Fernandez featured in climate council coverage from Maine Public, WGME
Maine Public interviewed Ivan Fernandez, a professor emeritus in the University of Maine’s School of Forest Resources, on a report from the Maine Climate Council, of which he is a member, that will guide updates to the state’s climate action plan. Fernandez said the report builds on a previous study and shows trends that contributed to the devastating winter storms and extreme summer heat are continuing, and in some cases accelerating. WGME (CBS 13 in Portland) also referenced Fernandez in coverage of a recent Maine Climate Council meeting where members, of whom he is a part, identified conservation as a goal to prioritize. “Warming, increased precipitation, increased climate variability, sea level rise. Those extremes make it very difficult to know how to best invest in resilience,” Fernandez said. Fox 23 in Portland shared the report from WGME.
