Sun Journal highlights UMaine-backed initiative to identify reptiles, amphibians
In a column from the Sun Journal titled “Ask Maine Audubon,” Maine Audubon staff naturalist Doug Hitchcox highlighted an initiative started in 1984 by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in cooperation with Maine Audubon and the University of Maine. The Maine Amphibian and Reptile Atlas Project has generated more than 13,000 records submitted by hundreds of volunteers to help identify reptiles and amphibians in Maine.
