Maine media boost hazing prevention consortium, research

WABI (CBS 5 in Bangor), WFVX (Fox 22/ABC 7 in Bangor) and News Center Maine attended the Hazing Prevention Consortium summit held at the University of Maine’s Buchanan Alumni House June 4-5. The summit was created and organized by StopHazing, a group founded by UMaine professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan. It is an annual opportunity for representatives from institutions joined in an initiative to plan and implement strategies that prevent campus hazing to network and share knowledge.

WMTW (ABC 8 in Portland) highlighted a related study from researchers, including Allan, that explores how the issues of hazing and white supremacy are related. Allan collaborated on the study with several researchers from other universities and Kathleen Gillon, a UMaine assistant professor of higher education.
