New York Magazine highlights Tan’s plant genome testing discovery

In an issue of Intelligencer from New York Magazine, University of Maine associate professor of plant genetics Ek Han Tan was highlighted for his role in discovering why scientists were having trouble genetically producing an American chestnut tree deemed Darling 58. Tan worked with a professor from the University of New England and discovered that a different strand of the chestnut tree has been mistaken for Darling 58 for the past decade.
