‘Everyday Shakespeare’ podcast named honoree in Webby Awards
The “Everyday Shakespeare” podcast, co-hosted by University of Maine English professor Caroline Bicks and Worcester Polytechnic Institute English professor Michelle Ephraim, was named an honoree for 28th Annual Webby Awards for Best Live Podcast Recording category.
The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence for online content. A quarter of entries are named honorees in their category, and there were 13,000 from all 50 states and over 70 countries this year. An awards ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 13 on Instagram, X, TikTok and YouTube.
Bicks, UMaine’s Stephen E. King Chair in Literature, and Ephraim are Shakespeare professors and close friends who love to bond over the ways The Bard’s plays help them through their everyday dramas. In each episode of their podcast, available on Apple Podcasts, they go back to Shakespeare’s time period to bring funny, fresh insights into a pressing modern problem. They explore popular Renaissance writings — from parenting books to cosmetics manuals — and, of course, plays. They also discuss their uncanny connections to everyday struggles.
