Maine Day of Service extending into full Spirit Week April 22–26

New this year, the University of Maine is holding Spirit Week Monday, April 22–Friday, April 26 to extend and celebrate Maine Day of Service on Saturday, April 20.

Maine Day of Service was inaugurated in 1935 as Maine Day, set aside for the entire campus community to assist in cleaning and beautifying campus. Historically, it was held on the Wednesday of the last week of spring semester classes.

For five consecutive days this spring, Spirit Week will focus on beautification, giving back to campus and increasing Black Bear school spirit. Each day of the week has a theme: Earth Day, Class of 2025 Day, Maine Day of Service, Class of 2024 Day and Go Blue Friday.

Find the many daily events and volunteer opportunities by visiting the Spirit Week and Maine Day of Service website. As the week approaches, visit the Event Calendar through Campus Groups for additional details.

Sign up online for volunteer work on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Spirit Week and Maine Day of Service on the Saturday prior, or submit a campus service project in need of volunteers during Spirit Week. The deadline to submit a campus service project is Friday, April 19, and the deadline to sign up as volunteer for senior citizen community yard clean up, held Saturday on Maine Day of Service, is Thursday, April 18.
