Barron co-leading poetry roundtable in San Diego to celebrate Robert Frost
University of Maine professor of English Jonathan Barron is co-leading a roundtable discussion in San Diego March 21-23 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet Robert Frost. Workshops and roundtable discussions will be held by distinguished poets and joined by scholars from around the world.
Barron’s roundtable will focus on how the contemporary lyric poem has evolved in form, aesthetic, subject and style from the practice of the early 20th century modernists. He has authored or edited several books of criticism, the most recent being the 2015 novel “How Robert Frost Made Realism Matter.” He also formerly served as the executive director of the Robert Frost Society, which is hosting the event in partnership with the Library Foundation San Diego.
A professor of English at the State University of New York at Fredonia, Natalie Gerber, is co-leading the roundtable with Barron. Gerber has published widely on prosody and the linguistic foundations of poetic intonation.
