The Bangor Daily News interviewed Karyn Sporer, associate professor and chair of the University of Maine Department of Sociology, about the manhunt for the perpetrator of a mass shooting in Lewiston, which ended Oct. 27. “Police are doing things we don’t even know they’re capable of doing, and it needs to be that way,” she said. “These search strategies are methodical and involve a lot of intelligence gathering. They can’t just run in the door like we see in the movies.”
