Media advance study of mercury exposure to tidal marsh sparrows

Phys.org, Pen Bay Pilot and Nature World News highlighted a University of Maine-led study into the effects of mercury exposure in tidal marshes on two sparrow species: Saltmarsh Sparrows and Acadian Nelson’s sparrows. The study, led by Kate Ruskin, a UMaine lecturer in ecology and environmental sciences, found that mercury exposure is related to a 10% decrease in nest survival in these two tidal marsh songbird species surveyed in four states, from Maine to New Jersey. Nature World News shared the Phys.org report.
