UMaine Extension offers Lunch and Learn Preserve Apples workshop, pressure gauge testing

It’s time to enjoy those wonderful Maine apples, and dehydrating is a great way to preserve the harvest.

In a University of Maine Cooperative Extension Lunch and Learn Preserve Apples workshop at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 23 at the Piscataquis County office, 165 East Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, Extension personnel will review the recommended safe practices to dehydrate a harvest. Recipes for apple products also will be available.

Free canner pressure gauge testing will be conducted on site as well from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. on Sept. 23. Annual testing is recommended to ensure accuracy. No appointment is needed.

The workshop is free; please register on the event webpage. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Anette Moulton, 207.564.3301; anette.moulton@maine.edu
