Bolton discusses why not to wash produce with soap with Washington Post

The Washington Post interviewed Jason Bolton about why not to wash produce with soap. “Soap, in a lot of cases, has a different chemistry than the body should be ingesting,” said the University of Maine Cooperative Extension associate extension professor and food safety specialist. The article also cited a study in which he and his colleagues discovered that distilled water is equally or more effective at removing pesticides and microbes from produce as three popular commercial produce washing products: Fit, Ozone Water Purifier XT-301 and J0-4 Multi-Functional Food Sterilizer.
