BDN interviews Smart about slime mold

The Bangor Daily News interviewed Alicyn Smart about slime mold, groups of single-celled amoeba that act as one organism and live in soil. “Slime molds are not bad things,” said Smart, director of University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s plant disease diagnostic laboratory. “They are just indicators we are currently in a really moist environment, which we are all pretty much aware of.”
