Morse speaks to BDN about seafood seasonality
Dana Morse spoke with the Bangor Daily News about seafood seasons in Maine. Harvest sensibility, which is determined by stock availability and weather, and regulations define the season for each fish product, according to the report. “For example, it may be that there are closures in areas for organisms that are in their spawning phase that would have to do with preserving the stock of species so it can reproduce and maybe not because it’s not tasty or inaccessible,” said Morse, a marine extension associate with University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant. The report also advanced Maine Sea Grant’s seafood guide.
