Dill speaks with WMTW about Lyme disease case decline

Griffin Dill, University of Maine Cooperative Extension tick lab coordinator, spoke with WMTW (Channel 8 in Portland), about a 50% drop in Lyme Disease cases between 2019 and 2020. “We saw that perfect storm of people spending more time outdoors, ticks being heavily active, but as the summer months wore on and drier conditions became more prevalent, the tick numbers leveled out and their activity decreased over time,” he said.
