BDN cites Ferrini-Mundy’s efforts in reporting new procedure for renaming UMS buildings
The Bangor Daily News reported that the University of Maine System Board of Trustees has approved a process for renaming campus buildings when using the honoree’s name “would compromise the public trust and reflect adversely upon the university and/or University of Maine System and its reputation.” The story cited the task force convened by University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy in 2020 to consider a student proposal to rename Little Hall, which was named for former university president and eugenics proponent, Clarence Cook Little. The task force proposed a process for renaming buildings similar to the one approved by the trustees and recommended renaming the Orono building. Yahoo! News shared the BDN article.
