Media report UMaine, partners to receive $2 million to advance offshore wind power
The Portland Press Herald, Centralmaine.com and National Fisherman reported that the University of Maine will partner with Governor Mills’ Energy Office and other state agencies and stakeholders to develop an economic roadmap for establishing Maine as a leader in offshore wind power. The partnership is expected to create jobs and build a skilled sustainable energy workforce in the state with $2.1 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and $380,000 in state and local matching funds including in-kind contributions from the University of Maine.
