Ferrini-Mundy, Dana speak with media about welcoming students during the pandemic

University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy spoke with the Bangor Daily News about this year’s welcome for new and returning students. “It’s very different in terms of sort of the physical arrangements,” Ferrini-Mundy said of move-in day. “But we have wanted to convey the same warm welcome. We still want them to feel connected and to give them a chance to do things that people normally do when they first start on a college campus.” News Center Maine interviewed UMaine Dean of Students Robert Dana. “For students, coming back to the campus is really important. There’s a sense of connectedness and engagement that we work very hard to do from a remote perspective – but being on campus really gives people a different sense of purpose.” WABI (Channel 5) also reported on the students’ return to campus.
