Maine Sea Grant to get the remainder of its FY17 funds, AP reports

The Associated Press reported the Maine Sea Grant program at the University of Maine will receive more than $500,000 — the remainder of its FY17 funds — to support research and education. Maine’s U.S. senators said the grants are coming from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and also will help with outreach efforts on behalf of coastal communities in Maine. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King said Sea Grant funding is essential to helping fishermen, lobstermen and marine industries in the state, the AP reported. U.S. News & World Report, San Francisco Chronicle and Seacoast Online carried the AP report.
