BDN interviews Gambocarto for story on saving energy at home during the winter

Olivia Gambocarto, sustainability outreach coordinator at the University of Maine, spoke with the Bangor Daily News about what people can do to reduce their energy consumption and make their homes more sustainable during the winter. Gambocarto recommends caulking windows and doors and adding insulation to prevent heat from escaping. She also suggests using energy-efficient LED light bulbs. “When it gets dark at 3:30 [p.m.] — oh my goodness, of course you’re inside, your lights are on more often,” Gambocarto told the BDN. “There’s the constant struggle between [wanting] it to be brighter, but then I’m using more energy.”
