Hopkins quoted in BDN article on maple syrup business

Kathy Hopkins, a maple syrup expert with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, was quoted in a Bangor Daily News article about Frontier Sugarworks, a maple syrup business owned by VJ Guarino and Carrie Braman. The couple is leasing a 200-acre sugarbush in Sandy Bay Township from the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, according to the article. Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Commissioner Walt Whitcomb said the state is interested in developing its maple syrup industry, the article states. “If we decide to get organized, get more young people and develop the market. … Maine could do anything it wants,” Hopkins told the BDN in 2014.
