Stack quoted in Press Herald ‘Maine Gardener’ column

Lois Berg Stack, an ornamental horticulture specialist with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, was mentioned in the latest column in the Portland Press Herald “Maine Gardener” series. In the article, “Landscape your garden as though it’s a native landscape,” the author recalls a landscape design class he took that was taught by Stack. She told the class that landscapes look and work better if they include plants that go together in nature, according to the article. To find out what these groupings are, she recommended the book, “Natural Landscapes of Maine: A Guide to Natural Communities and Ecosystems,” published in 2010 by the Maine Natural Areas Program of what is now the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, and written by Susan Gawler and Andrew Cutko, the article states.
