UMaine Extension’s ‘From Scratch’ cooking classes featured in BDN

The Bangor Daily News published a feature article on the University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s cooking class series, “From Scratch: Your Maine Kitchen.” The classes, which include a recent one on Savory Harvest Pies and next month’s Cooking with Maine Beer, embrace the popular locavore spirit of connecting consumers with land and sea, according to the article. “They are geared toward helping people understand the importance of using local food in their own home kitchen,” said UMaine Extension educator Kathy Savoie. “We have seen restaurants do a great job of using local foods. This is helping to make the home kitchen feature local foods as well.” The series is now in its second season, the article states.
