UMaine Extension seeking Eat Well program volunteers, media report

The Ellsworth American and Penobscot Bay Press reported University of Maine Cooperative Extension is seeking volunteers for its Eat Well program in Hancock County. Participants will be trained to teach others about food preparation, safety and nutrition. Fifteen hours of hands-on training are scheduled 1–4 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 5, 12 and 19; and Dec. 3 and 10 at the UMaine Extension office in Ellsworth. After completing the training, volunteers will provide 30 hours of community service teaching clients at a local food pantry or community meal site from January through April 2016.

Training fee is $60; limited financial assistance and payment plans are available. Deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 30. More information is available online.
