Publishes Releases on Honey Bee, Bluefin Tuna Research picked up two University of Maine releases about current research projects. “Hungry bluefin tuna in a sea of plenty,” focuses on a study led by Walter Golet, assistant research professor in the School of Marine Sciences and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. In a paper in the journal Marine Ecology Progress Series, the authors outlined how the overall condition (fat content) of Atlantic bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Maine declined despite an abundance of Atlantic herring — their preferred prey. The second release focuses on a group of UMaine researchers who are working to enhance native and honey bee populations by increasing beneficial pollinator flowers across Maine’s landscape.
