Report on Grant for Ocean Monitoring
UMaine’s physical oceanography research was in a Bangor Daily News follow-up story to the news of continued funding for the Northeastern Regional Association of Coastal Ocean Observing Systems, known as NERACOOS. The UMaine Physical Oceanography Group, headed up by UMaine Professor Neal Pettigrew, will receive some of the $1.7 million grant from the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to maintain buoys and manage and make available to the public the data the buoys generate.
