Max Hammer 1930-2011
Max Hammer, a retired UMaine professor of clinical psychology, died on June 14 at the age of 80, following a lengthy illness. Hammer, a U.S. Army veteran who was born and raised in New York City, lived in Orono for the last 50 years of his life. Prof. Hammer, who earned a doctorate from the University of North Dakota, was also a licensed psychotherapist. Funeral services were held earlier this month in Bangor. Those who wish to remember Prof. Hammer may make gifts in his memory to the Education Fund at Bangor’s Beth Israel Synagogue. More information is in a Wednesday June 29 Bangor Daily News obituary.
